Pablo Castañeda was the winner of the Acquisition and Residency Prize, the result of our recent collaboration with the UVNT Art Fair, a fair known for its focus on new trends and diversity in contemporary art.
In the last edition of UVNT 24, Piramidón awarded the Acquisition and Residency Prize for the second time, combining the acquisition of a work by the selected artist, which is added to the Piramidón Collection, with a two-month artistic residency at our center in Barcelona.
From July to August 2024, Pablo Castañeda enjoyed this residency, a space that integrates work and living areas while fostering dialogue between artists and cultural agents. During his stay, Castañeda developed a series of works that delve deeper into his artistic practice, focusing on exploring the intersections and divergences between painted and digital images. His works address questions about the materiality of the image and the influence of the medium on our perception and interaction with various types of representations.
In his recent proposals, Pablo combines formal resources with fragments of recognizable images, creating a fascinating balance between presence and representation. His painting transcends the visual, emerging as an object, process, trace, image, and subject, reaffirming his place in the contemporary art scene.
