Winner of the Barcelona Crea Grant 2025, Mikel Adán will develop during his residency at Piramidón the project Tortuga de closca tova, a sculptural research project that explores the relationship between matter, time, and ephemeral processes. Using butter as the primary material, the project investigates the fragility and transformation of matter, questioning the permanence of sculpture and positioning disappearance and change as essential components of artistic language. Through the combination of soft and hard materials, the work generates a poetics of disappearance that reflects on sustainability, expiration, and resistance to the accumulative logic of art and the market.
This six-month artistic residency grant is supported by the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona (ICUB) and is part of the Barcelona Crea program. Its aim is to promote newly created projects, encourage experimentation, and foster connections with the local and international artistic community.
