His works feature global elements connected to personal influences. Using drawing with a symbolic, systematic, and synthesizing purpose, Dedé creates a geometric dialogue of lines and colors, resulting from the fusion of contemporary influences such as design, fashion, pop art, and street art. The result is pop and graphic images with an ethnic, urban, and technological flair. His recent production is primarily marked by the convergence of two theoretically parallel universes: digital and analog.
Concepts and materials often perceived as opposites become “one” in the artistic object, coexisting naturally through Dedé’s modus operandi. Aesthetically, he is influenced by African art, deeply present in the Afro-Brazilian culture of Bahia, and shows minimalist influences and the refined simplicity, albeit unconsciously, of Brazil’s concrete heritage.
