In her painting, Estefanía Urrutia seeks absence, the poetry of solitude and emptiness. She is drawn to mysterious doors, the beauty of simplicity and everyday life, places of memory that are old and lonely, and also the silence that certain spaces around her give off. She delights in plays of light and shades, in the search for reality and color. The viewer seems able to observe these spaces—sometimes empty, sometimes with figures in a posture of withdrawal and solitude—without being seen. Her paintings are like an open window to a space of calm and stillness, intimacy and silence, where time has stopped.
