Francisco Schütte approaches the sculptural act through his close connection with architecture. In 2019, he emigrated to Barcelona after living through twenty years of dictatorship. For him, sculpture and architecture occupy a physical space and simultaneously create negative spaces, establishing a more direct and active connection with the viewer, who is enveloped by raw matter.
An architectural language that expresses emotions is evident in the very selection of materials used in his works, such as reinforced concrete, plaster, jute, and asphalt. He dichotomizes labyrinthine atmospheres into geometries and perspectives. The use of the individual as the protagonist of a story progresses through an existential bureaucracy, seeking a horizon that remains elusive.
